Anna Clendening rose to internet fame on Vine. She was also a contestant in season 9 of America’s Got Talent, and from there her fame grew. She has been very open online about her struggles as an artist, and as such her fans have gotten to know her. She writes all her own music and you can tell this when she performs it - she feels the meaning behind the lyrics of her songs. This is something she wanted to come across in her musis videos as well.

Boys Like You
For her song “Boys Like You” Anna Clendening wanted to work with a seasoned music video director. She found Daniel Carberry in Los Angeles, who has since gone on to direct multiple music videos for artists including Dua Lipa, Usher, Jimmy Eat World, Deadmau5, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Rise Against and many more.
Daniel Carberry reached out to Alex Hoelscher of Wallaby to be cinematographer on this project. This music video was shot in the Raleigh Durham area, and the budget was pretty tight. Alex used vintage lenses, mirrors to bounce the sunlight where it was needed and some other tricks to try to make more than what the budget allowed. This video now has over two million views online.
